Dr. Gadient was born and raised in Davenport, Iowa.  He attended the College of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota, and Graduated with a bachelor of science degree in 1969.  He attended dental school at Loyola University in Chicago and received his doctoral degree in 1973.  Residency training in oral and maxillofacial surgery was completed at the Gundersen Clinic Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.  He completed his specialty training in 1976 and successfully completed his board examinations in 1978.

He entered private practice in Roseville, Minnesota in 1976 and subsequently opened a second office in North Oaks, Minnesota.  Dr. Gadient is currently board certified in oral and maxillofacial surgery and maintains staff privileges at HealthEast Hospitals, as well as United and Children's Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Dr. Gadient held numerous officer positions in the Minnesota Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, culminating in a two year term as president in 1988 and 1989.  Following this tenure he served as delegate for the state of Minnesota to the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons for eight years.
